On June 17, 2015, the U.S. State Department reported that various U.S. consular and embassy posts around the world are experiencing technical problems issuing visas.  It is unclear if the technical glitches are affecting both non-immigrant and immigrant visas.  The State Department says on its web page that the problems are with its Consular Consolidated Database (CCD) and that they have government and private contractors working on fixing a patch.  We have had several clients receive both nonimmigrant and immigrant visas at different consular posts this week and last without any problems.  However, applicants with pending applications should make travel back up plans for delays in case one is unlucky enough to be affected by the glitch.    Applicants are advised to check regularly with the consular post’s website for updates as well.  In some cases, interviews may be rescheduled.  Those without consular appointments may want to wait for later appointments to be scheduled after the fix is known to be complete.  Visas are being issued for urgent humanitarian reasons and to temporary agriculture workers.
